I used to play a long time ago and in our custom games all items were breakable. TLDR can I turn my Broom of Flying into a darkness yoyo, RAW? So, could I cast darkness on my broom while holding it, send it out say 25 feet to the middle of combat the next turn with a command word to give myself advantage then bring it back same turn with another command word to come back to me to retain enemy disadvantage on hitting me and let them keep not being able to see me? The broom comes back to you when you speak another Command Word, provided that the broom is still within 1 mile of you.”Īll it requires is speaking a command word. “You can send the broom to travel alone to a destination within 1 mile of you if you speak the Command Word, name the location, and are familiar with that place. And if so, my follow up question concerns this point from the items description: My question, however is can I cast darkness on the Broom of Flying itself. Obviously one thing I could do (space permitting) would be cast darkness on an object I’m carrying and swoop in and out over melee combatants to give myself advantage then leave so my allies can see the enemy again.
